Commitment

What is a commitment ceremony?

A commitment is a ceremony when two people, they may be gay, lesbian or straight, publicly express their commitment and love for each other in front of friends, family and the world. It is a public statement without the legal aspects of a wedding. It is a ceremony which you make your very own.

What I do

We discuss the essential things: love, commitment, how you see the future, as well as your favourite interests, music, songs and family traditions. I have a large range of readings, music and sample ceremonies to choose from, to help me to draft a ceremony that reflects you as a couple.

How I go about it

During the first interview we discuss what you are hoping for and what I can offer. This initial interview is free of charge. Couples need to make the choice of celebrant carefully, to feel they have found one who is on their wavelength.

Prices are available on request. A written quote will be provided. If you decide to engage me as your celebrant, a booking fee of $100 makes that booking secure.

After a later interview I draft a copy of the ceremony and check it with you. I continue to work with you until we are happy with the completed ceremony. A rehearsal close to the ceremony brings it all together.

On the day when your commitment is celebrated I present you with a copy of the completed ceremony.
