It is a privilege for me to share the most profound experiences of family and friends at the loss of their loved one. My aim is to convey clearly reflections and feelings about the deceased, to share treasured moments, to acknowledge the grief and to celebrate the positive contribution of that person’s life.
What I do
I meet with family and friends of the deceased. During this time we discuss significant life events, the work, interests and unique qualities of the person. We reflect on important life stages and begin the process of selecting words, images, music, songs and treasured objects that bring the loved one to mind.
I draft a biographical outline which gives an account of their life journey, acknowledging the connections with others. I draft a eulogy which aims to convey the essence of the person. Family and friends decide during discussion with me the form of ceremony which best suits the person.
I consult with family and friends about readings, mementoes, music and songs which best convey the personality, values and interests of the person.
I deliver the ceremony at the funeral, inviting contributions from family and friends if they choose to do so. I work with the funeral director, aiming to present a service which meets the needs of family and friends and celebrates the life of the deceased.
I hand a completed copy of the ceremony to the family.
